Mrs. Barton
My name is Allison Barton and I am very excited to share our second grade classroom with your child. I am a 2004 graduate of Winthrop University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I graduated in 2009 from Lesley University with my Master's Degree in Technology in Education. This is my fifth year teaching at Armstrong. I spent my first three years here teaching Kindergarten and am now excited to begin my second year of teaching Second Grade. Previously I have taught second grade and spent two years teaching a multi-age classroom of Kindergarten through third graders in a group home for abused and neglected children. ! In addition to working hard with your child everyday, I also enjoy teaching other teachers about how to better use technology in the classroom. I have presented for the past four years at the Upstate Technology Conference in Greenville and look forward to creating lots of technology infused projects in our class this year! The teaching profession is truly something that I feel called to do by a higher power and I feel blessed to be in such a rewarding career.
But my teaching career took a backseat in February 2008 with the birth of my son, Grayson Conner. Three years later on this roller coaster ride called parenting and I cannot get enough of him. Becomming a parent has expanded my compassion for my students exponetially.
And speaking of expanding... Our family expanded on December 18, 2010 when I married my wonderful husband, Kevin and gained a bonus, my step-son, Cade. Life has been full to say the least. And it keeps getting fuller... Kevin and I welcomed our third son, Aubrey Bennett "Ben", on October 19, 2011. I am surrounded by boys and I LOVE IT!
When I am not working feverishly in the classroom or being tackled by my boys, I enjoy scrapbooking, blogging, digital designs, and Pinterest (I think I might have a problem but I do not want to stop!).
