Guided Reading
We are very excited to be incorporating the research based balanced literacy system developed by Gay Su Pinnell and Irene C. Fountas. One of the best strateigies that Fountas and Pinnell emphasize is the use of Guided Reading groups in the Reading Workshop in order to provide individualized literacy instruction that addresses the different reading ability levels of our students.
Below are articles that I have found that may help you get a better snapshot of what we will be doing in the classroom as well as what you can do at home to help your child become a better reader.
I have also provided supporting documents below that you can view and use for yourself at home. some of my Guided Reading groups will be using books that have a downloadable .pdf file I can provide here so that you may print your own copy at home. Enjoy!

Reading A to Z
Reading A to Z is a great website for both parents and teachers. I have used this website in the past to print individual books for my students based on their reading level. This website not only has books to print, it has quizzes, worksheets, projectable books (for interactive boards-LOVE IT!), and much more.
